Give the gift of unique craftsmanship with this symbolic sculpture and MEISSEN. According to legend, the mythological Jade Emperor called a competition for the entire animal kingdom. As a prize, he promised the first twelve animals to cross a river a place in the Chinese zodiac. This story, which the collection "Chinese Zodiac Signs" by MEISSEN artist Maria Walther picks up on, plays an essential role in the design of this sculpture.
The 13 cm high sculpture "Chinese Zodiac Signs Buffalo" depicts the animal that reached the finish line second, the buffalo. With the rat on its back, it swam through the river, but just before the finish line, the rat jumped to the other bank. "Chinese Zodiac Signs Buffalo" shows the moment when the buffalo also reaches the finish line: out of a wave it jumps to the other side of the river.
