For Meissen painter Horst Bretschneider, nature is the most prolific artist. Inspired by trips to Japan and Canada, his "Spring Awakening" vase is a continuation of his "Four Seasons" series. The delicate pink blossoms of the magnolia trees and peach wood branches are contrasted here with the silver-blue sky, while engraved gold and platinum element add an elegant touch. Playing with sharp and blurred lines, light reflections, shadows, and the intensity of the colours, the artist elevates porcelain painting to the point of optical illusion. The modern vase design, created by modeller Gert Wronkowski in 2016, serves as the canvas for this painting. The tall shape with its graceful, voluptuous curvature combines naturalistic painting tradition with the modern MEISSEN aesthetic. Turned by hand without a mould, each vase is one of a kind.
